Standard Scratch

If you look to your right when you come into the clubhouse, there's a new certificate posted up. Our standard scratch has been reassessed, and has been raised to 71, in line with par. Norman Wells went around with the assessor, and it sounded like an interesting process, with distances from the tee that a scratch player might achieve being measured and the difficulty of an approach shot being assessed to decide how hard it might be to make par.

Under competition rules, the Competition Scratch can only vary away from Standard by a certain amount, which in practical terms should mean that we've all got an extra shot to avoid the dreaded 0.1!
